"My spiritual awakening began in 2004 when I visited the Avatar, Mother Meera in Germany where she gives Darshan (silent blessing) to thousands of people each year," Martin tells us. It was then that he began to feel a connectedness with what he describes as a 'higher power'. He believes that the forces of the universe are infinite but that we are all connected to it and to each other in some way. "There is a higher power, be it God or whatever one believes it to be", he says " and each of us has a higher self which I believe is our spirit or soul." So what is Spirituality? "Essentially it is an awareness of connectedness that embraces many aspects. It is about developing and growing as a conscious human being, connecting to our self and others on a divine level to improve our relationships with ourselves and with others. It is about focus and self-empowerment to create contentment, happiness and a joyful life. It is about self love, giving and receiving love. If we can attain all this then we can heal" In 'The Gift In Me', Martin shares with us his thoughts about his spirituality, his meditation practices, breathing exercises and the various spiritual healings that he experienced which even included past life regression.
"Daily meditation is the route to calming the mind and opening the door to the influence and benefits of higher awareness which is constant and ever present. It allows the spirit and our creativity to break through and cross the boundaries of resistance that our thoughts and beliefs, attitudes and conditioning impose."
Martin also tells of other spiritual practices and shows us the different breathing techniques of Chi Gong and Pranayama (Yoga breathing). "These are tools for finding calm, inner peace and the free flow of energy through the body." he says, " It is important not only to meditate but also to reflect and contemplate, to look inward and examine our thoughts and belief systems and to discover our values." "When we know what our values are and we can live our lives in accordance them, only then can we attain high self-esteem and health and happiness will surely follow"
